Pocket Pals with Brother Home Sewing & Embroidery

Happy Friday Friends! This week I created a cute baby gift for my friend’s new grand daughter. I was inspired by a project my friend and fellow machine embroidery enthusiast, Linda Chilcott shared with me that was designed by her talented machine embroidery mentor Judy. It was called a pocket pal and was just the cutest thing ever! A little gingerbread man jumping out of an actual pocket on a woman’s shirt!

I loved the idea so much that I decided to try making one with my trusty Innovis-990D Combination Sewing & Embroidery Machine. I dressed up an ordinary plain baby onesie from the grocery store by using two of the 35 built-in Disney designs that comes pre-loaded onto the machine and adding a coordinating fleece pocket.

I sewed the picket onto the onesie using one of the 168 built-in stitches that also come pre-loaded onto the machine! These cute Mickey and Minnie look as though they are peering out of the little pocket to say hi to the baby!

And the pocket can even be used to hold a small baby toy or pacifier, making this a super cute and functional baby gift! You could make these using any of your favorite licensed character designs available to download on www.ibroidery.com, so the possibilities are truly endless!

With the holidays just around the corner, I plan on making tons more easy, economical and thoughtful gifts for friends and family with my new found passion for machine embroidery! And if you are looking for the perfect gift for the creative person in your life, I highly recommend putting an Innovis-990D under the tree! It’s the gift that truly keeps on giving!

UPDATE: This morning Linda Chilcott (the unofficial president of my would be fan club) left us and headed up to the great Whimsical Craft Studio in the sky. Linda was the one of the most amazingly sweet, creative, positive, talented, giving, caring, encouraging and crafty women I’ve ever known. I wish I could have spent more time with her. Linda inspired me to begin my machine embroidery hobby and never missed tuning in to our Charity Wings Art Center live streams to show her support. I will carry on her creative passion for the craft and think of her every time I turn on my machine. My prayers are with her family and Peter Chilcott.
