My son was a huge fan of the movie Cars when he was little. And my friend’s little boy whose birthday is coming up is deep into the Cars obsession now too! As I imagine it, the ultimate Cars party for him would definitely start off with this awesome Cars themed online invitation from Paperless Post:
That way we could get the word out fast and invite all of our friends and family! Next up, I’d tackle the decorations and activities! I found some really fun stuff to decorate with online such as these eye catching checkered flag banners and road floor runner. At Toys R Us I found some awesome Lightning McQueen 4 Wheelers for the kids to drive on the pretend road. I think I’d also use some sidewalk chalk to create curvy swirvy roads on the patio for the kids to drive on. Maybe even add in an obstacle course with some cones and these cool road signs! And if the kids get tired, they could take a pit stop in the “rest area” on these cute Lightning McQueen sofa and chairs, also from Toys R Us!
Surely all of this action will make the kids hungry, so I’d load up the pit stop with tons of yummy food and snacks! Wilton makes a really cute Lightning McQueen cake pan and their site also features great tutorials on how to make these fun drivers license cake and Cars cookies. For a personalized touch, I’d put the birthday boy’s picture and details on the drivers license cake! I would definitely have fun making these, in addition to the stoplight brownies and this cool racetrack cake I found on ehow.com. That’s a lot of sweets, so to balance out the menu I’d also offer apple race cars (also from ehow.com) for the fruit lovers in the group! No doubt the kids will get really thirsty with all this racing action, so I’d plan to refashion this Cars toy chest into a cooler, by lining it with plastic and filling it with lots of ice and water bottles!
And of course there would be lots of deluxe Cars party favors such as this assorted pack, also from Toys R Us!
