Monogrammed Necktie for Dad with the Brother PE540D

Hello fellow machine embroidery enthusiasts! Today I am excited to share with you this quick and easy monogrammed necktie project that I created on the Brother PE540D Personal Embroidery System!

L1120150

This is a great project to make for a man’s gift for Father’s Day or a birthday and can be customized to suit any event or occasion – no pun intended! You could even personalize it with embroidery designs of Dad’s favorite hobbies!

L1120146

I created this project by embroidering an inexpensive ready made  tie that I purchased at my local superstore. I began by mounting the tie onto some adhesive tear away stabilizer to hoop it up and get it ready for the monogram!

L1120147

I made use of one of the elegant built-in embroidery fonts to create the monogram.

L1120148

I think this project came out really nice, especially considering the short amount of time and money that was spent on it! But let’s keep that part a secret when presenting Dad with this very special customized Father’s Day gift!

L1120154

If you are interested in taking your monogramming to the next level, I recommend that you also check out Brother’s extensive collection of embroidery software programs. Here’s an example of the things you can do with the one I downloaded, called Macbroidery Embroidery Lettering Software.

macbroidery 4

This software comes with tons or really interesting fonts! Above you can see an example of the same monogram in one of the fonts.

Macbroidery 1

I also played around with trying my name on different garments. You can see how your designs would look in different thread colors on different items such as hats, onesies, aprons, shirts and more!

macbroidery 2

If you’re a Mac user, I encourage you to download a free trial version and to try it out! The software also comes with a whole bunch of borders, accents, embroidery and applique designs!

macbroidery 3

I am excited to play around some more with the software and see what designs I can come up with! And the great thing is, if you happen to not be a computer person, you can easily do this project with any of the built-in fonts and embroidery designs that come pre-loaded on the Brother PE540D! So whether you want to get high-tech or keep things simple, you are sure to have a total blast and make great projects with Brother Machine Embroidery!

Custom Embroidered Office Folder with the Brother Innov-Is 990D

Happy Friday Friends! Today I’m super excited to show you my new project! I just finished creating this fabulous custom embroidered folder featuring brightly colored fabric and a striking lucky koi fish design!

L1120023

Click HERE to learn about koi symbolism. At first I just thought it would look cool, but apparently this new office accessory is destined to bring me success and good fortune!

L1120029

I made this project all on the Brother Innov-Is 990D Combination Sewing and Embroidery Machine. The koi design came with the machine on the included Embroidery Design Boutique disk.

L1110812

I love that this machine come with pre-loaded built in designs as well as 200 additional designs on the disk, so right out of the box, you can begin working with lots of cool embroidery designs, by easily loading them onto your computer via a handy USB.

L1110813

Of course you could also do this project with any of the amazing designs available to download and purchase from ibroidery.com!

L1110878

For this design I incorporated some fun new materials and a great tool! The folder gets its stiffness from Fairfield World‘s Stiffen 2, a rigid double sided fusible backing.

L1110947

I also added handy grommets from Dritz! To punch the holes for the grommets, I used my new favorite tool, the Metal Hole Punch from MD Hobby & Craft. It’s designed to punch through metal, so needless to say, it punched right through all the layers like butter!

L1110950

I finished off the edges by zig-zag stitching with a bright orange contrasting Coats Dual Duty XP contrasting thread.

L1120025

I love this new office folder so much that I’m inspired to make a whole bunch in different themes! These would make great gifts for just about anyone and you could even use the built-in Disney embroidery designs that come pre-loaded on the Innovis-990D to make custom folders for the kids to keep their homework in! The possibilities are endless! I am working on a video tutorial for this project coming soon so stay tuned!

Wishing you all a very relaxing and inspired weekend!
