Plan the Ultimate Disney Party with Paperless Post

logoI was recently inspired by Paperless Post to dream up my ultimate Disney theme party! Paperless Post now offers a wonderful and wide assortment of party invitations centered around all your favorite Disney characters! Click HERE to browse through them all!

My son was a huge fan of the movie Cars when he was little. And my friend’s little boy whose birthday is coming up is deep into the Cars obsession now too!  As I imagine it, the ultimate Cars party for him would definitely start off with this awesome Cars themed online invitation from Paperless Post:

That way we could get the word out fast and invite all of our friends and family! Next up, I’d tackle the decorations and activities! I found some really fun stuff to decorate with online such as these eye catching checkered flag banners and road floor runner. At Toys R Us I found some awesome Lightning McQueen 4 Wheelers for the kids to drive on the pretend road. I think I’d also use some sidewalk chalk to create curvy swirvy roads on the patio for the kids to drive on. Maybe even add in an obstacle course with some cones and these cool road signs! And if the kids get tired, they could take a pit stop in the “rest area” on these cute Lightning McQueen sofa and chairs, also from Toys R Us!

Surely all of this action will make the kids hungry, so I’d load up the pit stop with tons of yummy food and snacks! Wilton makes a really cute Lightning McQueen cake pan and their site also features great tutorials on how to make these fun drivers license cake and Cars cookies. For a personalized touch, I’d put the birthday boy’s picture and details on the drivers license cake! I would definitely have fun making these, in addition to the stoplight brownies and this cool racetrack cake I found on ehow.com. That’s a lot of sweets, so to balance out the menu I’d also offer apple race cars (also from ehow.com) for the fruit lovers in the group! No doubt the kids will get really thirsty with all this racing action, so I’d plan to refashion this Cars toy chest into a cooler, by lining it with plastic and filling it with lots of ice and water bottles!

And of course there would be lots of deluxe Cars party favors such as this assorted pack, also from Toys R Us!

Dress It Up Button Embellishments Product Review

Attention sewing and crafting enthusiasts! Today I am super excited to tell you all about my latest creative obsession, Dress It up Button Embellishments!

I saw Dress It Up’s amazingly diverse collection of buttons at the Craft & Hobby Association Mega Show and was instantly hooked! The wide variety of novelty button designs Dress It Up offers is absolutely mind-blowing!

Being a lover of all things miniature, I have a great appreciation for all of the little design details that Dress It Up puts into their colorful and very fun buttons! And the best part is they have a button for every theme and occasion!

I’ve been doing a lot of Disney machine embroidery projects with Brother Home Sewing and these licensed Dress It Up Disney buttons will add the perfect touch to special projects centered around all of our favorite Disney characters and movies!

In addition to being the perfect buttons for all your sewing projects, these beautiful buttons make great accents for all kinds of no-sew crafting projects! Clip the loop off of the back of the buttons and glue them onto cards, invitations, paper crafts, ornaments, jewelry, accessories, room decor and more! The possibilities are endless!

I particularly love the Decadence, Destination France and Uncorked buttons! The attention to detail is off the charts and they remind me of that Paris honeymoon my husband keep promising we’ll take! I believe eventually we will take it, and perhaps then I can add these little embellishments to a scrapbook commemorating our trip!

Another wonderful thing about Dress It Up Button Embellishments is that many of the packs are variety packs, so you get lots of options for embellishments and can really have a lot of fun with mixing and matching! I really love these fun hippie and biker theme designs!

Here’s a close up of some of the dragons so you can see the amazing attention to detail that is but into these buttons. The quality is the best I’ve ever seen! Each one is like a mini work of art!

They even have these In Your Own Words customizable buttons! Have fun writing little words and phrases on these buttons to give an extra special customized touch to your projects and handmade gifts!

Another fun use for these buttons is decoden! Decoden projects are all the rage and Dress It Up Button Embellishments are perfect for taking your decoden projects to the next level! I am currently working on an awesome decoden project featuring many of these Dress It Up Button Embellishments, so stay tuned for an upcoming post on that!

Here’s a close up of the high heeled shoes buttons so you can see the amazing detail. Keep in mind these are just shy of 1″ in size, so the quality of detailed patterns on the shoes is impressive! And I absolutely LOVE their flocked fuzzy button designs! These would be perfect for projects for Mother’s Day, Bachelorette Parties, and your Girlfriends Birthdays!

Winnie the Pooh is a very popular theme and this fun variety pack includes all of your favorite characters! The three dimensional quality really gives them life and the colors are so cheerful and robust! These would be perfect for upcycling plain kids clothes into fabulous customized outfits!

Check out these aquatic characters. They each have so much personality! I could totally see these on a kids bathing suit or as accents on an invitation to a beach party! You could even dress up a plain gift bag or bow to tie into the theme of the party!

Be on the lookout for some very fun and inspiring  project ideas featuring Dress It Up Button Embellishments coming soon! If you are someone who enjoys all things miniature and coordinated theme projects, I highly recommend that you visit Dress It Up’s website to peruse all of the amazing button options that they offer. Pocket Pals with Brother Home Sewing & Embroidery

Happy Friday Friends! This week I created a cute baby gift for my friend’s new grand daughter. I was inspired by a project my friend and fellow machine embroidery enthusiast, Linda Chilcott shared with me that was designed by her talented machine embroidery mentor Judy. It was called a pocket pal and was just the cutest thing ever! A little gingerbread man jumping out of an actual pocket on a woman’s shirt!

I loved the idea so much that I decided to try making one with my trusty Innovis-990D Combination Sewing & Embroidery Machine. I dressed up an ordinary plain baby onesie from the grocery store by using two of the 35 built-in Disney designs that comes pre-loaded onto the machine and adding a coordinating fleece pocket.

I sewed the picket onto the onesie using one of the 168 built-in stitches that also come pre-loaded onto the machine! These cute Mickey and Minnie look as though they are peering out of the little pocket to say hi to the baby!

And the pocket can even be used to hold a small baby toy or pacifier, making this a super cute and functional baby gift! You could make these using any of your favorite licensed character designs available to download on www.ibroidery.com, so the possibilities are truly endless!

With the holidays just around the corner, I plan on making tons more easy, economical and thoughtful gifts for friends and family with my new found passion for machine embroidery! And if you are looking for the perfect gift for the creative person in your life, I highly recommend putting an Innovis-990D under the tree! It’s the gift that truly keeps on giving!

UPDATE: This morning Linda Chilcott (the unofficial president of my would be fan club) left us and headed up to the great Whimsical Craft Studio in the sky. Linda was the one of the most amazingly sweet, creative, positive, talented, giving, caring, encouraging and crafty women I’ve ever known. I wish I could have spent more time with her. Linda inspired me to begin my machine embroidery hobby and never missed tuning in to our Charity Wings Art Center live streams to show her support. I will carry on her creative passion for the craft and think of her every time I turn on my machine. My prayers are with her family and Peter Chilcott.
