Marisa wrote: Thanks Eileen! The idea was actiually a project evolution that was years in the making! Years ago when I specialized in prop design for special events I created a pair of giant 6' tall faux geodes for a jewelers daughters' bat mitzvah. I carved them from stacked layers of pink foam insulation with a hot knife and painted the interior with spray glitter paint. Those were the good old days when I freely ingested toxic chemicals for the sake of my art. Then about 4 years ago I took a ceramics class and created a smaller tabletop version out of clay and the challenge with that technique was that it was very tricky to get the sharp edges I desired with clay. Then finally when I was recruited to create some projects using the amazing line of Sandtastik Products the EUREKA moment came and I realized the perfect way to create faux geodes was with celluclay, activa wire mesh and crystal ice glass! So technically this project actually took several years to complete! LOL! Reply to this
