      Thanks Eileen! The idea was actiually a project evolution that was years in the making! Years ago when I specialized in prop design for special events I created a pair of giant 6' tall faux geodes for a jewelers daughters' bat mitzvah. I carved them from stacked layers of pink foam insulation with a hot knife and painted the interior with spray glitter paint. Those were the good old days when I freely ingested toxic chemicals for the sake of my art. Then about 4 years ago I took a ceramics class and created a smaller tabletop version out of clay and the challenge with that technique was that it was very tricky to get the sharp edges I desired with clay. Then finally when I was recruited to create some projects using the amazing line of Sandtastik Products the EUREKA moment came and I realized the perfect way to create faux geodes was with celluclay, activa wire mesh and crystal ice glass! So technically this project actually took several years to complete! LOL!
