CHA Summer 2011 Recap

I am pleased to report the Craft & Hobby Association Summer 2011 Trade Convention was yet again another smashing success! Over the course of the show's three days, I enjoyed the pleasure of demonstrating the wildly popular line of Westcott Cutting Tools aka The World's Favorite Scissors! You can check out pictures of all the fun in the Westcott Booth HERE! Attendees had their choice of creating several wonderfully creative make-n-take projects designed by yours truly! They had an absolute ball customizing their Modern Surrealist designed Scissor Holsters which have become the signature make-n-take project in the Westcott booth at CHA! I also introduced crafters to  my super fun and easy make-n-take called "Duck Tape Pouches" which allowed crafters to witness firsthand the diverse capabilities of Westcott Brand Titanium Bonded NonStick Scissors! Attendees also engaged in the experience of bidding on the charitable designer display I coordinated on behalf of Westcott to benefit CharityWings.org, a place for creative minds who want to give. The pieces the designers created (with materials provided by Westcott Brand, VELCRO(R) Brand Fasteners and The Duck Brand Duct Tape) were mixed media accessories of either a wearable or home decor theme! The display proved that by combining creativity with the sponsors materials, there truly is no limit to the possibilities! It also helped raise funds for some very worthy causes! During the show I also made daily appearances on the judging panel of the exciting LIVE Crafting Challenge: Minute to Craft It! Contestants had a ball creating fun and fast projects in exchange for lavish prizes! As if all that wasn't enough, I also had the pleasure of appearing in a worldwide web broadcast called LIVE from CHA with Charity Wings in which I walked viewers though the steps of the Westcott make-n-takes via the power of the internet! For those who couldn't attend the trade show in person (or just wanted to save their feet), the internet experience was the next best thing which allowed them to virtually attend the CHA show, interact with demonstrators and even do make-n-takes from the comfort of their own homes! Finally, to top it all off I was honored to receive a "Judges Pick Award" from editors for my Crafty Couture design contest entry! Here's an article about the contest. I am pleased to share that the Westcott sponsored design I submitted will be featured in the January 2012 issue of Cloth Paper Scissors Magazine! Here are some pictures from the CHA Show! To see more fun photos from the show, please check out the Modern Surrealist and Westcott Brand Facebook Pages!
