JUICE BOTTLE GIFT BASKET

Tomorrow my best girlfriend hits the big 3-0! In need of a unique, meaningful and heartfelt eco-friendly gift, I scoured my recycling bin for a plastic jug and a little glass jar. Using the beads, trim and my unique award winning shower caulk technique, I created this adorable color coordinated candle and basket set. I can't wait to present it to her!

PROJECT DIRECTIONS:

Basket:
Cut off the top of a plastic bottle. Use Goo Gone or oil on a rag to wipe away label adhesive. For handles. Heat a pin over a candle and punch 4 holes at the top of the opening. Run one side of wire  through holes and twist. Thread beads on to wire and twist wire through and around other hole. Repeat. You can also use ribbon for the handles. Is a useful, economical way to present a gift, eliminating the need for pricey paper gift bags!

Candle:
Clean jar with a rag and Goo Gone or oil. Apply wick with metal base to bottom of jar with hot glue. Scent and dye the wax pellets by shaking in a plastic bag with a few drops essential oil and candle dye, or food coloring. Pour into jar and position wick. Apply trim to perimeter of jar lid, folding over the end for a finished edge. Apply shower caulk to the top of the lid. Embed a barrette (from the dollar store and some beads and rhinestones into the caulk. Let it dry until a skin forms over the caulk. Gently use your finger to pat down until the surface is smooth. For tight spots you may use the ball of a pin the smooth out the surface. Let it sit for 10 minutes and then fill in the white spaces between the components with color coordinating glitter glue. Tie a ribbon around the jar.

Add a personalized gift tag! Coordinate your gifts by theme! The possibilities are endless!
